Zach Warkentin: a lifelong Coloradan who represents clients in entertainment, healthcare, and business legal matters in a wide range of industries and stages.

Zach founded Warkentin LLC in 2017. His entertainment practice includes representing independent film/TV producers, musicians, production vendors, talent managers, comedians, and other creatives in complex industry deal negotiation, entity protection, and intellectual property matters. Zach has represented clients in production, recording, and distribution negotiations with large international partners, such as Disney, Red Bull, National Geographic, Spotify, and Sony Music.

Zach’s healthcare practice focuses on assisting clients with regulatory compliance, client/patient documentation, and startup/business matters. In representing his healthcare clients, Zach draws on a wealth of experience garnered in six years of healthcare litigation in state and federal courts, and representing clients in front of DORA for licensing matters.

Zach’s corporate work involves assisting companies in streamlining, startup, compliance, scaling, IP, negotiation, service agreements, and related matters. Zach recently assisted a client in the formation, scaling, and sale of their tech startup to a major public company.

Prior to his transactional practice, Zach was a civil litigator, representing clients in high-stakes healthcare and business litigation.

Zach is a frequent speaker and author, with published articles and presentations covering an array of legal topics (see below for list). He is admitted to practice in Colorado state courts and the United States District Court of Colorado, and served as a law clerk to the Hon. Randall Arp of Colorado’s 1st Judicial District. Zach is the former Chair of the Colorado Bar Association’s Sports and Entertainment Law Section. He remains an active member on its Executive Counsel. Zach is also a past professor in Music Law at the University of Colorado-Denver, and has been a board member of several public and private entities.

Zach has over 25 years of experience in the entertainment industry as an attorney, artist, and promoter. He is a founding member of multiple music groups, including OHNOKHAN, Dirty5Thirty, Broken Tongues, FOTOGRAFFIK, and Golden Blend. He has shared the stage with numerous, renowned acts, such as Empire of the Sun, Digable Planets, Bonerama, Kid Cudi, Chali 2na, Sarah Slaton, Elliot Moss, Del the Funky Homosapien, the Motet, Zion-I, and DJ Abilities. During undergrad at the UNC-Chapel Hill, Zach was the lead illustrator and political cartoonist for The Daily Tar Heel.

In his free time, Zach is typically songwriting, skiing/snowboarding, traveling, or spending time with his wife, two kids, and husky mix, Thelonious.
