Michael Barfield is personally invested in achieving his clients’ short and long term goals as both lawyer and counselor.  As a Barnwell Whaley member attorney, he has developed a successful practice in the areas of professional negligence, construction litigation, commercial litigation, property related litigation and personal injury in addition to a substantial real estate practice focused on the fractional ownership industry .  Michael Barfield holds an AV preeminent Martindale-Hubbell rating, representing the highest level of professional excellence and has been recognized by The Best Lawyers in America for his handling of insurance law and construction litigation matters.

A graduate of Furman University (BA), Mr. Barfield received his J.D. from the University of South Carolina. While in law school, Mr. Barfield was the Articles Editor on the student editorial board of the ABA Real Property, Probate and Trusts Journal; and a member of Phi Delta Phi legal fraternity.

Mr. Barfield is active in the Charleston community as a member of the Board of Trustees of St. Mark United Methodist Church. He previously served as Attorney Coach of West Ashley High School Mock Trial Team and as a Den Leader for Cub Scout Pack 79 of the Coastal Carolina Council of the Boy Scouts of America.
