Firm Summary

I am a sole practitioner with a general practice of law, and my offices are in Carver, Massachusetts. My areas of law practice are wide and varied, including administrative, Chapter 7, and 13 bankruptcies, Business and Personal bankruptcy, business, civil trials, corporate, criminal in District Courts, domestic relations, mediation, elder law, estate planning, family law, landlord-tenant, mobile homes, municipal law, real estate and real estate development. I have been located in Carver since January, 1990 and spend one day per month in pro bono work at the Carver Counsel on Aging.

I was a sole practitioner with a general practice of law in most of those areas in Middleborough, Massachusetts. In addition to my practice, I was a member of the Middleborough Planning Board from 1986 through 1989.

I was a principal in the firm of Hale & Hale, P.C. with my brother, Douglas A. Hale, Esquire. I was responsible primarily for business, estate planning and real estate, while my brother was primarily responsible for the areas involving litigation.

I was an associate with the Boston firm of Kisloff, Hoch, Shuman & Flanagan. Further, I worked for them during my work quarters in law school and from graduation from law school until I became a member of the Massachusetts Bar in December, 1974.

I attended Middleborough public schools, played sport and was active in the music program. I was a member of the National Honor Society, and graduated with honors.

I attended Boston University for my undergraduate education, and I graduated from the School of Business Administration (now School of Management) with a degree of Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, Cum Laude in 1968. I started Northeastern University school of Law in 1968. In November, 1968, I was accepted in the U.S. Coast Guard Officer Candidate School. I reentered Northeastern University School of Law, and graduated in 1974 with a degree of Juris Doctor.

I attended and graduated Officer Candidate School of the United States Coast Guard in June, 1969 and was commissioned an Ensign in the U.S. Coast Guard Reserves. After receiving my commission I was stationed on the U.S. Coast Guard Cutter VIGILANT until September, 1971, and was assigned as First Lieutenant (head of the Deck Department), Gunnery Officer, Exchange Officer and Deck Watch Officer. I remained in the Reserves and was appointed Commanding Officer of the New Bedford Vessel Unit. In 1978 I elected to become a member of the inactive Reserves due to the demands of the legal practice. In 1989 I was honorably discharged from the U.S. Coast Guard Reserves with the rank of Lieutenant Commander.

I was born and raised in Middleborough, Massachusetts. My father was a sole practitioner with a general practice of law in Middleborough until he was appointed a Justice of the Superior Court in 1967 and the first Chief Justice of the Massachusetts Appeals Court in 1972. Both my sister and brother are attorneys.

My wife, Betsy Hale, received her certificate in Paralegal Studies from Northeastern University in 1995, and works with me. My hobbies include sailing, gardening, boat repair, playing bass trombone and banjo, singing, reading, carpentry, bicycling, walking, and computers.
