David G. Hanrahan was born in Brooklyn, New York on March 11, 1936. He graduated from Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, with a Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial Design in 1958. After 5 years in the United States Army, where he attained the rank of Captain, he attended Boston University where he received his JD in 1966. He served on the Boston University Law Review where was he was elected to the position of Note Editor. David G. Hanrahan was admitted to the Massachusetts Bar in 1966.
He has distinguished himself as a trial lawyer in Massachusetts. His practice areas have centered around a wide variety of civil litigation, employment law, and labor relations law. Mr. Hanrahan is a member of the Boston and Massachusetts Bar Associations and is a fellow in the American College of Trial Lawyers. He once won what was the largest single judgment in age discrimination at the time ($3.6 million) in the case of Kelley v. Airborne Freight Corporation d/b/a Airborne Express, 140 F.3d 335 (1st Cir. 1998). In addition, Dave Hanrahan has been lead counsel in numerous precedent setting cases:
