Cris A. Rasco graduated from Texas A&M University in 1980 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Construction Management. His expertise in architecture, engineering and business administration landed him a position with a prominent general contracting firm in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area building mid to high-rise buildings. In the fall of 1986, after 6 successful and productive years designing and constructing buildings, Mr. Rasco left the construction industry to pursue his childhood dream of becoming an attorney. He attended St. Mary’s University in San Antonio, Texas from 1986 to 1989 where he excelled in trial advocacy, competing in many advocacy competitions. Mr Rasco received the American Jurisprudence Award for Trial Advocacy in 1989.
After law school, Mr. Rasco returned to the Dallas/Ft. Worth area and opened his private practice focusing in the areas of personal injury, medical malpractice, construction law, general civil litigation and mass torts. His success over the following 15 years resulted in jury awards and settlements in the tens of millions of dollars for his clients. Mr. Rasco gained the reputation among judges and attorneys alike as a tenacious litigator who possessed a “take no prisoners” approach in representing his clients.
In 2003, in the wake of tort reform and the medical malpractice overhaul, Mr. Rasco relocated to Galveston to return to his roots in a small town environment. Mr. Rasco worked as Assistant City Attorney for the City of Galveston, Texas where he authored several city ordinances critical to the City’s revitalization efforts. He was the City’s lead counsel in all litigation matters and chief counsel to two separate city charter review committees. During his three year stent with the City of Galveston, Mr. Rasco worked closely with the Texas General Land Office, the Department of the Interior/National Park Service, the Galveston Park Board of Trustees, Galveston County, City Staff and other entities involved in the regulatory issues surrounding the public beach and dune system. He served on the Galveston Island Redevelopment Authority and currently serves on the Board of Directors of TIRZ-13. Mr. Rasco was also a key member of the City’s emergency management team and rode out Hurricane Rita on the Island with the mayor, city manager and first responders.
In 2006, Mr. Rasco returned to private practice while remaining as a consultant to the City of Galveston on several issues. He developed real estate on Galveston Island and drafted several development agreements between the City of Galveston and local subdivisions. Mr. Rasco has worked with several developers negotiating reimbursement agreements with the City as well as assisting with regulatory requirements to acquire demolition and building permits.
Mr. Rasco currently represents a wide range of condominium and homeowners associations as general counsel, providing all of the associations’ legal needs including corporate governance, governing document revisions, collections, storm damage reconstruction and litigation.
Mr. Rasco represents clients in family law cases, including divorce, child custody and all related issues. These issues are most often the most important issues facing families and individuals. With this in mind, the attorney must be result oriented and sensitive to time.
