Born and raised in San Antonio, Texas, Steve Costello attended San Antonio College and has degrees from the University of Texas at Austin and Texas A&M University. He worked as a chemist, Six Sigma Black Belt, intellectual property manager and patent agent at the Dow Chemical Company for 20 years.

While in law school, Mr. Costello participated in moot court and mock trial, made the Dean’s List in the Spring Semester 2005, and served as Assistant Articles Editor for South Texas Law Review. He co-authored a brief as the member of a two-person team of participants in the 2006 Spurgeon E. Bell Memorial Intramural Moot Court Tournament. The brief won the honor of Third Best Brief for the event.  After doing commercial litigation at the Hodge Law Firm in Galveston, Texas for almost 5 years, he opened his own practice and currently also serves of counsel to the Law Offices of Alex R. Hernandez Jr. PLLC.

Steve Costello has represented creative clients large and small for over 10 years. Our practice has a focus on business law, intellectual property and music law helping inventors, musicians, photographers, and other creative people advance their businesses and protect their intellectual property—patent, trademark and copyright. As a former research chemist and inventor, Steve Costello has hands-on experience with how the law affects technology and the creative process.
