Clark attended Central Michigan University, where he graduated cum laude with a Bachelor of Science degree in 1977. He then when on to earn his Juris Doctor degree from the University of Tulsa College of Law in 1980. He graduated from law school with honors as a member of the Order of the Curule Chair, the highest academic award given by the school. During his time in law school, he was also a member of the prestigious Order of Barristers, as well as Phi Delta Phi.
Currently, Clark is a member of several well-known and highly regarded professional organizations. These include the American Association for Justice and the Oklahoma Trial Lawyers Association, where he served as president in 1998. He is also an adjunct professor of law at the University of Tulsa Law School, instructing law students on the subject of evidence.
Clark is admitted to practice before the Oklahoma Bar; the United States District Courts for the Northern, Eastern, and Western Districts of Oklahoma; and the Northern District of Texas. He is also admitted before the United States Court of Appeals for the Tenth Circuit.
